Laminin is one of the main components of the basement membrane, which forms a stabilizing layer for most epithelial and endothelial cells in vivo. It consists of three subunits linked by disulfide bridges and non-covalent bonds. Laminin has multiple binding domains for other proteins of the extracellular matrix as well as for cellular integrin receptors.
