Nordlux Staldglas gasket set, 3 pcs, black, Ø 9.5 cm

Name: Nordlux Staldglas gasket set, 3 pcs, black, Ø 9.5 cm
Brand: Nordlux

This is not a lamp but a spare part: a set of three black sealing rings, 9.5 cm in diameter, for the Staldglas glass used in Nordlux outdoor luminaires. The manufacturer describes them as rings in sturdy rubber that help seal the glass on outdoor lights. What Staldglas is "Staldglas" is the Danish term for thick, ribbed stable glass — the shade familiar from classic barn-style facade lamps, which Nordlux uses on its outdoor fittings. The glass seats into a metal housing on a gasket; that gasket is what handles the contact between two hard materials. Why the gasket gets replaced In a fitting like this the gasket does two jobs at once. First, it closes the gap between the glass and the body, limiting how much water and dust reach the inside of the lamp. Second, it forms a flexible layer between glass and metal, so a shade being tightened down does not bear directly on a hard edge. Rubber outdoors lives in the harshest conditions there are: UV, frost and repeated heating make it harden, shrink and split over time. When water starts finding its way into a lamp, or the shade stops sitting flush, a perished gasket is usually the reason — and it is the part you replace for a few euros instead of buying a new luminaire. What is in the pack The box holds three pieces. That is enough to refresh three fittings, or one replacement with spares. Measure your own glass before ordering — these rings are 9.5 cm across and are intended for Nordlux fittings with Staldglas glass.
