Overview SSP (Sung Sim Precision) is a Korean burr manufacturer that produces aftermarket replacement burrs for most major professional grinder platforms. It increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, with two practical effects: the burrs stay sharp considerably longer (around 5,000 kg of coffee, vs. roughly 1,000 kg for uncoated steel) and they generate less heat during grinding, which helps preserve aromatic compounds in the bean. The coating itself doesn't meaningfully change particle distribution; that's set by the geometry.
