SILEDA is an aluminium LED profile in silver anodised finish, designed to hold two LED strips side by side. Its cross-section measures 27.4 × 18.1 mm, and the length sold as 2 m is actually 2020 mm — the extra 20 mm is a cutting allowance. The profile fixes directly to a ceiling or wall, or hangs on cables as a linear luminaire. How much LED strip it takes and how much load it handles The channel is 25 mm wide, and the manufacturer specifies two strips of up to 12 mm each. Two parallel strips give more light from one length than a single strip, so the profile can serve as main lighting rather than only as accent light. The data sheet gives the maximum strip power the aluminium can dissipate: 26.6 W at a profile temperature of 55°C and 36.4 W at 65°C. Compare these figures with the power of the strips you plan to fit — more powerful sources will heat the profile beyond those limits. The driver is mounted outside the profile. Mounting and joining lengths The manufacturer provides for surface mounting with screws or double-sided tape and for a suspended version on cable kits; the system also includes a hinge, a swivel joint and a metal mounting bracket. Lengths join into longer runs and shapes with straight connectors and 90°, 120° and 135° angle connectors, and custom lengths up to 6 m are made to order. What you need to buy separately Only the profile is supplied. The cover, end caps, LED strips, driver, connectors and suspension kits are separate parts of the SILEDA system. DOUBLE covers come in transparent, frosted, milky, opal and black, and the taller TALL cover has its own end caps. Each length needs two end caps: one with a cable hole and one without. Without sealing the profile is rated IP20, so it is meant for dry rooms; the manufacturer states that the sealed system reaches IP68.
