SERIN N°2 is a hand-made cylindrical shade from the Polish studio Las Plumas, covered in velvet in marbled shades of green and orange. Gold cords close the top and bottom edges, and 14 cm tassel fringe hangs beneath the lower rim. This is not a bare shade to be completed later — the set includes the lampholder, 150 cm of cord and a 10 × 3 cm ceiling rose, so it goes straight from box to ceiling.The gold lining is not decoration The inside of the shade carries a glossy gold coating, and it is what decides how the lamp lights. A white lining reflects neutrally; a gold one reflects with a warmed, honeyed cast and sends it downward, towards the table or the floor. The velvet outside is dense and lets almost no light through, so the body of the shade stays dark and saturated while the whole output leaves through the bottom opening. The effect is intimate: a bright circle beneath the lamp and a deep, warm glint visible from below.Five diameters, one pattern The model is made in five diameters — 20, 25, 35, 45 and 50 cm — and the shade height grows with it, across a range of 15 to 31 cm. The same fabric and the same trim look entirely different at each of those scales: the 20 cm is a point accent above a bedside cabinet or in a row over a bar, while the 50 cm becomes the anchor of a whole dining room. Please confirm the size when ordering — it is the one parameter the product code alone does not fix.Handmade, and what that means Every piece is sewn by hand: velvet stretched over a black lacquered steel frame, cords and ribbons attached one at a time. The maker states a 21-day dispatch time — that is the build, not a stock delay. The velvet pattern is marbled and cut from a larger bolt, so the arrangement of the green and orange on any given piece will be close to, but not identical with, the photograph. On a craft product that is a characteristic, not a fault.Bulb and use The E27 holder takes any lamp with that thread; no light source is included. A warm colour temperature suits the gold lining best — cool or neutral light fights the honeyed reflection rather than using it. It is also worth knowing that the dense velvet and narrow bottom opening make SERIN a mood and zone light: it will light a table or a seating corner, but it will not replace general lighting in a large room.
