Zoom C029CL-01B is a surface-mounted ceiling light from Maytoni shaped as a short cylinder: 8.5 cm across, 11.5 cm tall, black aluminium with a deeply recessed lamp. It fixes straight to the ceiling with no cut-out, which makes it usable where there is no void for a recessed fitting – on a concrete slab, in a refurbished bathroom, or on a sloped attic ceiling. IP54 – what it means in practice The fitting is rated IP54: dust-protected to a degree sufficient for living spaces and protected against splashing water from any direction. That is the level intended for a bathroom outside the immediate shower area, for a kitchen above the worktop, and for sheltered entrances. IP54 is not resistance to jets of water – do not fit it inside a shower enclosure or anywhere it could be flooded. GU10 lamp up to 10 W The fitting takes one GU10 lamp of up to 10 W. That ceiling comes from the sealed, closed body – in an aluminium can this small, heat leaves only through the walls, so a more powerful lamp would shorten the life of both the lamp and the seals. Because the lamp is replaceable, you choose the colour and output yourself: the same fitting can run warm 2700 K in a bedroom and neutral 4000 K over a mirror. The fitting is not dimmable. It does not require a PE earth conductor, which simplifies installation on older two-core wiring – it does not, however, remove the need to isolate the supply before working and to check that the substrate will hold the fitting. Where Zoom C029CL-01B works A small diameter and a single light point make this a fitting for groups rather than for lighting a room on its own. Typical uses are a row above a kitchen run, a pair above a bathroom mirror, a line along a hallway, or an accent over an entrance.
