Max Light PET Square C0082 surface spot, 7 x 7 x 9 cm, GU10 max 50 W, white

PET Square C0082 is a white cube measuring 7 × 7 cm and standing 9 cm tall, screwed straight to the ceiling. It is open underneath — no shade, no glass — and the GU10 lamp sits recessed inside the housing. What the box is for Setting the source back inside the cube is not incidental: the walls of the housing cut off sideways light, so from anywhere in the room you see the lit patch on the wall or worktop rather than the lamp itself. It is the same principle anti-glare fittings use, executed in the simplest way possible. The side effect is that it throws narrow and downwards. PET will not light a whole room — it is a point, not general lighting, and has to be planned that way: several in a row over a kitchen worktop, a pair over a picture, or a single one in an alcove. No bulb included — so you choose how it lights The manufacturer quotes a maximum of 1 × 50 W GU10. That figure is the thermal ceiling for halogen; in practice you will fit a 4–7 W GU10 LED giving 350–600 lm, equivalent to the old 35–50 W halogens on a tenth of the electricity. What matters most, though, is the beam angle of the bulb, because the fitting does nothing to the beam — it passes it through exactly as the reflector produces it: 36° — a tight patch, a strong accent. For lighting a picture, a plant, a section of wall. 60° — the compromise. Over a kitchen worktop or in a hallway, where the pools are meant to merge. 100–120° — a broad wash, with almost no spot effect left. Colour temperature is chosen the same way (2700–3000 K for living rooms and bedrooms, 4000 K for kitchens and work), and so is dimming — the fitting itself is not dimmable, so if you want to vary the brightness you need a bulb sold as dimmable and a dimmer matched to it. The bulb is visible — so how it looks matters Unlike fittings with a diffuser, here the face of the bulb is part of the lamp's appearance. A classic halogen or an LED with a chrome reflector gives a bright, mirror-like eye; an LED with a white or frosted face disappears into the white cube and draws less attention when the light is off. Worth thinking about, especially when buying several to sit side by side. Dimensions and installation The base is 7 × 7 cm and the fitting projects 9 cm below the ceiling. Mounting is surface: no hole to cut and no void needed above, which makes it a solution for concrete soffits and anywhere there simply is no suspended ceiling. Supply 230 V, protection IP20 — dry interiors only. It has no place above a bath, in a shower enclosure or outdoors. The finish is white and matt. The manufacturer does not state the housing material. Versions and catalogue data The same cube also comes in chrome (C0084), and the PET family includes a round variant — C0142 Pet Round New in black. So squares and circles can be combined in one finish, or the colour changed while keeping the same size. Article C0082, EAN 5903351001113, manufacturer Max Light.Show more
