Paignton 1 Light Mini Bollard - Stainless Steel Elstead

Name: Paignton 1 Light Mini Bollard - Stainless Steel Elstead
Brand: Elstead Lighting

The mini version of Paignton is a low garden bollard, 30 cm tall and 10.2 cm in diameter, made from a brushed 316 stainless steel tube. At the top sits a frosted glass diffuser, guarded by two crossed, arch-shaped metal bands. It is a design from Elstead Lighting's own range; the same form also comes as a taller bollard and in brushed brass.Where it can standAt 30 cm, the light source sits just above the ground, roughly at calf height. The light therefore falls mainly on the paving and planting within a few steps of the bollard rather than into the faces of people walking past. A point this low suits the edge of a path, the border of a flower bed, a set of steps or the side of a driveway, where a taller bollard would block the view. The frosted glass diffuses the light, so the bulb does not show as a harsh bright spot. The body is grade 316 stainless steel, often called marine grade. It contains molybdenum and copes with salt and chlorides better than ordinary stainless steel – in a seaside garden, beside a pool, or next to paving that is salted in winter. The IP55 rating means protection against dust and against water jets from any direction, so the bollard can stand outdoors with no cover. In our catalogue it is listed for gardens and for hotel and restaurant grounds.Bulb and connectionThe fitting has one E27 lampholder and takes a bulb of up to 40 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself; a 2700–3000 K lamp gives warm light close to a traditional bulb. The manufacturer states the fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps, so dimming needs a bulb sold as dimmable and a suitable dimmer. The bollard runs on 230 V mains. It is a Class I fitting, so the supply cable needs a protective earth conductor connected to the earth terminal. The fitting weighs 1.5 kg.Show more
