MACARI 1806 is a loft-style chandelier from the Polish brand Jupiter – an open black steel frame 113 cm long, hung on two chains, with five clear glass cylinder shades inside it. A frame that organises five light points Five separate pendants over a table make a mess – five shades enclosed in a shared frame read as one object. That is the whole idea of the construction: a rectangular open cage sets a rhythm and marks an axis over the table while blocking no view, since it is made of thin sections only. The effect differs from a solid bar: the piece asserts presence without weighing the room down. 113 cm – a scale for a long table This is not a lamp for a side table. At 113 cm wide the chandelier is meant for a dining table seating six to eight, or a kitchen island. Spaced light points light the whole length of the top evenly, which one central lamp cannot do – over a long table it always leaves the ends darker. 40–86 cm adjustment on chains Suspension on chains allows the height to be set across 40–86 cm from the ceiling, shortening or lengthening by whole links. Over a dining table one typically aims for 70–80 cm above the top; that range covers both a standard 2.5 m ceiling and a taller room. Unlike a cable, a chain needs no shortening of the flex. Clear glass – the bulb is on show The shades are clear, not opal. That means the bulb is part of how the lamp looks – a decorative source with a distinct shape, or an Edison type, is worth the extra thought, because the glass will show it. A frosted envelope wastes the effect. The practical consequence: with clear glass in a position over a table, choose warm-toned sources of moderate output so they do not shine into the eyes of people seated. 5 x E27, 15 W maximum per socket 15 W is the limit for a single lamp, not the chandelier's power – across five sockets that is up to 75 W. Bulbs are not supplied and are fully replaceable, so colour and brightness are your choice. Five 15 W E27 diodes today total around 7,000–8,000 lm – that is main lighting for a large room, not just table lighting. Construction and installation The build is steel in a black finish with glass. A mass of 6.2 kg has to be allowed for in the fixing – on a plasterboard ceiling it must be anchored into the supporting structure, not into the board. Supply 230 V, IP20 (dry interiors).
