The LUMINES IVO profile in an anodized inox finish, a one-metre length. An aluminium **recessed** profile designed not to need a deep routed channel. A shallow rout instead of a deep channel The biggest obstacle to recessing a profile into furniture is board thickness: a standard recessed profile needs a channel deeper than an 18 mm chipboard panel or a thin door front allows. IVO was designed for exactly those situations — Lumines describes it as a profile **for places with limited space, needing no deep rout**. That decides its use: lighting shelves, plinths, worktops and furniture recesses, where the profile has to disappear into the material and there is little material to spare. Walls shaped to the opening The maker points out a detail that decides the result in recessed work: **specially shaped walls ensure a perfect fit to the mounting opening**. In practice that means the profile seats in the channel with no gaps and without masking the edge with silicone or a bead — which is otherwise hard to avoid with a rectangular section let into board. The result is an even line of light flush with the furniture surface. Anodized inox is not chrome This finish has a matt, steel-grey tone imitating stainless steel — closer to the brushed inox on an appliance front than to mirror chrome. In a kitchen it sits with the extractor, the oven and the handles; in a living room with dark metal and concrete. Lumines makes the same profile raw, silver anodized, white lacquered and black anodized as well, so the version is chosen to match the furniture material rather than the colour of the light. What has to be bought alongside The profile is a bare part. A complete fitting also needs a **cover from the LEAN PC range** — transparent, frosted or milky — and **ABS end caps with a cable hole**, plus LED strip and a driver separately. The choice of cover decides what the lit line looks like: transparent passes the most light but leaves the diodes visible; milky gives a uniform stroke at the cost of a few per cent of flux. This length is 1 metre; the same extrusion also comes in 2.02 m and 3 m — when planning a long run it pays to minimise joints, because every butt stays visible in the light.
