ENCOMBRE is a 43 cm pendant built from many small elements that you assemble yourself following the enclosed instructions. The result is an openwork, many-faceted volume covered in copper-coloured foil — a surface that reflects light at dozens of different angles, so the fitting does not only shine downwards but scatters highlights across ceiling and walls. A lamp you assemble This is not a finished fitting lifted out of a box. ENCOMBRE arrives as a set of parts to be joined according to the instructions — the assembly is part of the product, not an obstacle before it. Set aside an unhurried half hour and a flat surface. In return you get a form that could not be achieved from a single casting or a folded sheet. Copper foil, not solid copper The structural elements are plastic; the metallic effect comes from a copper-coloured foil applied to the surface. That has a concrete advantage: at 43 cm across, solid copper would make the fitting heavy and expensive, whereas this one weighs 0.65 kg and hangs on an ordinary cord with no reinforced fixing needed. The foil still gives the same warm, reddish sheen. Because the structure is openwork the lamp stays partly visible: a decorative filament source suits the character of the fitting, while an opal envelope limits glare when hung low. Warm white at 2200–2700 K works best with copper; neutral white cools its tone and flattens the sheen. The fitting dims only with a lamp rated for dimming — it contains neither control gear nor a transformer of its own. Where it works A 43 cm volume is a centrepiece fitting: above a dining table, over a kitchen island, in a reception or in a restaurant. Its openwork construction throws distinctive shadows, so it performs best where ceiling and walls are pale and smooth — that is where the pattern reads most clearly. With 130 cm of cord, the drop is set during installation.
