A drawing rather than a solid The whole form rests on one idea: the luminous ribbon does not run straight but curls into loops of varying radius and varying tilt. Four such coils are distributed along a black bar so that none repeats another — seen from the side you get a continuous undulating line of light, seen obliquely four separate circles. It is the narrow edge of the ribbon that glows, so the fitting gives both a soft wash and a distinct drawn outline. The outer surfaces stay black and matt, which by daylight makes the lamp read as a graphic rather than a solid. Dimming without a dimmer Simply Dim is worth understanding before installation: brightness is controlled from **an ordinary wall switch**, with no change of hardware and no remote. A brief off-and-on puts the fitting into a smooth brightening-and-dimming cycle, and releasing the switch holds the level reached. That lets CURLS go onto an existing circuit without chasing a wall for a dimmer — and it is also why it must not be connected to a phase-cut dimmer, since the function lives in the fitting itself. Two lumen figures, and which one counts The manufacturer publishes two flux values: 5320 lm is the sum of what the diodes themselves produce, while **3300 lm is the effective flux** — the light that actually leaves the fitting after losses in the diffuser and optics. In judging whether the lamp will light a table, the second figure is the right one, and 3300 lm from 45 W is enough to serve a dining table without additional lighting. At 3000 K the colour is warm, chosen for living spaces rather than a working kitchen. Dimensions and suspension The bar is 99 cm long and 21 cm wide, and the total suspension height reaches 135 cm, adjustable at installation by shortening the wires.
