BADESI is an eight-light pendant from the collection of the Spanish brand Luces Exclusivas, article code LE43350. Gold metal arms radiate from a central column, and a small opal glass shade sits at the end of each one. The arms are spread across two levels – four higher, four lower – so the fitting is not a flat circle but has depth and reads differently from every side. Proportions The span is 80 cm and the overall height 77 cm, including the drop rod and a ceiling rose 10 cm across. The shades are deliberately small: each is only 12 cm in diameter and 17.5 cm high. That disproportion is the point of the design – eight slender glowing capsules suspended in air on a fine gold frame rather than one large body. At 80 cm across, the fitting closes off the zone over a round table or an island nicely; under a low ceiling, plan the drop so the bottom of the shades sits roughly 75–85 cm above the tabletop. Materials and finish The structure is metal in gold and its shades – the manufacturer describes the colour as "gold and gold tones", matching the warm satin brass visible in the photographs. The shades are white opal glass: opal glass scatters light throughout its thickness, so the capsules glow evenly and the point of the lamp does not show through. What would tire the eye with bare sockets becomes a soft, diffuse glow here. Lamps – what you need to buy separately The fitting has eight G9 sockets rated at a maximum of 5 W each, so up to 40 W in total. Lamps are not included – the single most important thing to plan for at purchase. In practice the 5 W limit means LED lamps only; a good G9 LED at 4–5 W gives roughly 400–500 lm, so a set of eight comes to something like 3200–4000 lm. Colour and brightness therefore depend entirely on the lamps you choose rather than on the fitting. Because the shades are small and translucent, choose lamps with a compact envelope and without obviously visible LED strips. Dimming The fitting has no dimming electronics of its own. Brightness control is possible only if you fit dimmable G9 lamps and pair them with a dimmer rated for LED loads. With eight lamps at 5 W the total load on the dimmer is just 40 W, so check the dimmer's minimum load – many phase dimmers do not run stably below a certain threshold. Installation and use The fitting is for dry interiors – IP20 makes no allowance for contact with water or damp, so it is not suitable for a bathroom or outdoors. Supply is 230 V and it mounts permanently to the ceiling through the 10 cm rose. It works best over a dining table, in a living room, and in formal spaces where the decorative form and a warm, diffuse light are what matter.
