CAMARI LE62149 is a miniature recessed downlight just 40 millimetres across - smaller than a two-pound coin. All that shows in the ceiling is a narrow black ring and a dark interior; the diode itself sits deep inside the barrel, out of the sight line of anyone standing in the room. Why it is black inside The matte black reflector is optics, not styling. The manufacturer quotes UGR below 19 - the threshold beneath which lighting counts as comfortable for office work. It is reached by two things at once: setting the diode deep in the barrel, and lining the inside with an absorbing rather than reflecting surface. The result is that a ceiling with a row of these reads as dark, and the light only appears on the surface it is meant to light. Light output The integrated LED module draws 6 W and delivers 378 lm, an efficacy of 63 lm/W. At 4000 K the light is neutral white, and colour rendering exceeds 90 - the level at which fabric, wood and leather look true, and appreciably better than the CRI 80 typical of fittings this size. The 36° beam gives a clearly defined pool: from a ceiling 2.7 m above the floor the lit circle is about 1.3 m across. This is a fitting for accenting and for runs above a worktop, not for washing a room evenly. Installation The downlight goes into a suspended ceiling or plasterboard; two spring clips on the sides open out once it is pushed in and pull the fitting up against the board from below. No screws or trim rings are needed. The body is 60 mm deep and carries a finned heatsink at the back, so clearance has to be left in the ceiling void. The manufacturer does not publish the cut-out size; measure a unit or ask the retailer before cutting. Lifetime and warranty Rated module life is 50,000 hours - over 45 years at three hours a day. Luces Exclusivas gives a 5-year warranty. The light source is integrated and not replaceable, so no lamps need buying. The IP20 rating restricts CAMARI to dry interiors - it does not belong above a shower or outdoors. Build The body is aluminium throughout with a matte black finish. The layered construction is easy to read: a smooth barrel runs into a heatsink with transverse fins whose job is to carry heat away from the diode - in a fitting this small, that is what decides its life.
