STARK is a square recessed downlight 8.4 cm on a side, in aluminium, black, rated IP65. It takes a single GU10 lamp, sold separately. What IP65 changes in a recessed fitting An ordinary downlight is IP20 and does not tolerate moisture. IP65 means dust-tight and resistant to water jets, so this fitting may go where an ordinary one may not: in the ceiling above a shower or bath, in the cooler zone of a sauna, in a roof soffit and under a covered terrace. That is the substantive reason to choose this model over a cheaper downlight of the same size. The maximum is 10 W, not 50 W Maytoni rates this fitting at 10 W. That matters, because a GU10 holder will physically accept a 50 W halogen too — and in a sealed fitting with no airflow, such a lamp will overheat the gasket and shorten the fitting's life. Use GU10 LED lamps of up to 10 W only. With current LEDs that is no restriction: a 10 W GU10 LED gives 800–1000 lumens, more than the old 50 W halogen did. Dimensions and cut-out The visible bezel is 8.4 × 8.4 cm and stands just 2.9 cm proud of the ceiling. The cut-out is 6.5 cm, and the installation depth including the lamp is 8 cm — the decisive figure for a suspended ceiling: if the void above the board is shallower, the fitting will not go in, whatever the hole diameter. The base is round despite the square bezel. Square rather than round A square bezel is a stylistic choice with real consequences: square fittings read as a legible grid and sit better with rectangular ceiling boards, windows and joinery. In a room dominated by straight lines — a bathroom in large-format tile, a modern corridor — a square looks calmer than a row of circles. The black finish, by contrast, means the fitting does not disappear into a white ceiling but draws a regular pattern on it. Protection class II The fitting is protection class II (double insulated), so no earth conductor is required — which simplifies installation in older wiring where only two cores reach the bathroom. Supply is 220–240 V, 50 Hz. The fitting is not dimmable, though in practice dimming here depends entirely on the lamp and dimmer used. Build and warranty The body is aluminium, which carries heat away from the lamp — more important in a sealed fitting than in an IP20 one. The whole thing weighs 130 grams.
