GLASSA is a square ceiling light 39 cm on a side, built from two layers of glass: a clear outer plate that overhangs the frosted inner panel and is bolted to it on chrome spacers. The effect is that the fitting appears to float below the ceiling, its edge staying transparent while the centre glows evenly milky. Ceiling or wall SLV specifies this model for both ceiling and wall mounting, and it is a surface fitting — fixed onto the surface, not sunk into a suspended ceiling. At only 8.4 cm deep it does not eat into head height, which suits it to low ceilings: a corridor, a hallway, a kitchen or an office space. Lamps Inside are two E27 sockets. The manufacturer quotes a maximum lamp rating of 60 W for an A60-shape bulb and designed the fitting around general-service and energy-saving lamps. From its own range SLV recommends high-CRI E27 LED filaments — T38 8 W and T45 13.5 W, each in 3000 K and 4000 K, CRI 90 — and the frosted panel diffuses them anyway, so no filament is visible. Light distribution Distribution is symmetric and the output direct: all the light goes downwards through the milky panel, with nothing thrown up. This is a fitting for general lighting, not for building a pool of accent light. Build and installation The construction is glass reinforced with steel elements, with chrome fixings. The fitting weighs 3.806 kg net (4.572 kg gross) — a lot for a 39 cm luminaire, and a direct consequence of the double glass, so the fixing is better anchored into the structural ceiling than into plasterboard alone. Supply is 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz straight from the mains — no driver, no transformer. Class I requires a protective earth conductor, and IP20 restricts it to dry interiors. Warranty SLV gives a five-year warranty on this model.
