A dome cut on the slant — the light goes downwards only BOURDON is a small outdoor wall light shaped as a dome cut on a slant, so the whole aperture faces down and slightly away from the wall. It is not an up-and-down fitting: the beam leaves in one direction and draws a narrow, falling triangle of light on the façade. In practice BOURDON lights what lies beneath it — a path, a threshold, a step — rather than washing the wall above. Run along a wall or a fence it gives a rhythm of regular pools instead of a continuous glow. Ten centimetres — deliberately small The fitting is 10 cm across, 9 cm high and projects 11.5 cm from the wall. That scale is an advantage here: on a narrow pier, beside a front door or on a fence post a larger fitting looks overbearing, while BOURDON takes up roughly the space of a palm. At 374 g it can also be fixed to thinner substrates. IP54 and cast aluminium The housing is lacquered die-cast aluminium in anthracite — aluminium does not rust, so the fitting will not leave streaks down pale render after the first winter. IP54 means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction. That is the right level for a house wall, a fence and a balcony; where jets of water or pressure washing are involved, IP65 is the better choice. A GU10 socket — lamp and colour are yours to pick The fitting takes a replaceable GU10 LED lamp of up to 8 W, and no lamp is included. Outdoors that is a practical advantage: a GU10 is changed without taking the fitting down, and the colour can be matched to the rest of the façade — 2700 K against warm render and timber, 3000–4000 K where the surface needs to read clearly. The fitting runs directly on 230 V, with no transformer. Dimming BOURDON is dimmable provided a suitable lamp is used — the fitting itself holds no control electronics, so the GU10 lamp and the dimmer on the circuit decide whether it can be regulated. When buying the lamp, check the packaging says dimmable; an ordinary non-dimmable LED on such a circuit will flicker or fail to strike at all.
