Lucide BASIC is a solar outdoor wall light that needs no wiring at all. An integrated photovoltaic panel charges a 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery during the day, and after dark a combined motion and dusk sensor switches the light on by itself. The built-in 3 W LED module produces 380 lm of warm 2700 K light. No mains, no electrician This is the defining feature of the fitting: there is no cable, no plug and no connection to a 230 V circuit. All its energy comes from the panel on the top surface of the housing, and the electronics run at 4 V in protection class III. In practice that means you can mount it where running a supply would be expensive or impossible — on a fence, a garage wall, beside a gate, on a terrace post. How long it actually runs The manufacturer quotes up to 20 hours of operation from a full charge and around 7 hours to recharge. Those are laboratory figures — real run time depends on the season and on how much sun reaches the panel. Because the light works on the sensor rather than continuously, the stored energy comfortably covers a night: it comes on for 25 to 30 seconds when it detects movement and switches itself off again. The battery is permanently built in and cannot be replaced. Motion and dusk sensing Detection covers a 120° arc out to three metres, so the light responds to someone stepping into its immediate surroundings — a threshold-lighting range rather than driveway surveillance. The dusk sensor keeps it inactive during daylight, so the battery charges without waste. A switch on the housing lets you turn the fitting off entirely, for example while it is stored over winter. Build and installation The housing is powder-coated PVC in matt black and rated IP44, meaning it is protected against rain from any direction. The flat rectangular body measures 11.6 × 19 × 3.6 cm and sits close to the wall; at 0.25 kg, ordinary wall plugs are enough. The light is directed downwards, which limits spill towards a neighbour's windows. Lucide gives the fitting a three-year warranty.
