DURE 3 is a square recessed ceiling downlight — a fitting 145 mm across, set into a 120 × 120 mm cut-out and reaching just 34 mm into the void. The 12 W version delivers 1100 lumens in a warm 3000 K with a 110° beam. IP54: not just for the living room The key figure here is IP54 — protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction. Ordinary recessed spots are IP20 and work at the edge of the regulations in a bathroom or over a kitchen worktop. The manufacturer points DURE 3 directly at bathrooms, kitchens, circulation areas and rooms with raised humidity. Add impact resistance of IK06, meaning it withstands a 1 J blow — worth having in corridors, garages and cellars. Shallow installation A 34 mm recess depth is little for a fitting of this output. The downlight fits a suspended ceiling with minimal service space, and plasterboard where services run above the slab. The driver is integrated in the housing, so no separate module has to be laid above the ceiling and no access hatch planned for it. Distribution and spacing 110° is a wide distribution — the light spreads softly, without hard pools, and works well as general lighting. With a 2.5 m ceiling, fittings at 120–150 cm centres give even coverage of a room; for directional light, say over a work surface, choose a narrower beam instead. Before you buy The light source is permanently integrated — when the diodes reach end of life the whole fitting is replaced; the manufacturer states 17,000 hours. The fitting is not dimmable, so it should not be paired with a dimmer. The housing is plastic (PC and PS) in white, protection class II — no earth conductor required. The −20 to +40 °C range covers unheated rooms too.
