DAKLA 6426 is a wall light made of two square white acrylic panels laid over one another and turned a dozen or so degrees apart. Light escapes through the gap between them and from under their edges, so the fitting washes the wall instead of shining straight into the room. The face measures 28 × 28 cm and the body stands 6 cm off the wall. How big it is and how it mounts A 28 × 28 cm square is slightly larger than a sheet of A4 stood upright. Compare that figure with the free stretch of wall above a sofa or beside a bed, especially if the lights go up in pairs. The 6 cm projection is shallow enough that the fitting does not get in the way in a narrow passage. The light weighs 2.4 kg and sits on a 155 mm wide mounting plate that the larger panel hides. The manufacturer states protection class II: the fitting is double insulated and needs no earth conductor — live and neutral at the box are enough. Supply is 220–240 V. How much light it gives The source is a built-in 18 W LED module. It comes with the fitting, so there is no bulb to buy, but the manufacturer marks it as non-replaceable — the life of the diodes is the life of the whole luminaire. The module puts out 1090 lm at 3000 K, a warm, slightly yellow light close to that of an old incandescent bulb. That is roughly a third more than a classic 60 W bulb, but most of it lands on the wall, so this light works as secondary lighting rather than the main source. Colour rendering is Ra 80. The fitting cannot be dimmed — the brightness is fixed and a dimmer on the circuit will not change it. Build and where to hang it Both panels are acrylic in a uniform white, with no ornament or visible screws; the fitting is made in Spain. The IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors — not above a bath, in a shower zone or outdoors. Soft reflected light suits a spot beside the sofa, either side of a bed, a hallway or a corridor.
