An artificial palm 150 cm tall Chamaedorea — the parlour palm — is among the most recognisable of house plants, and this decoration reproduces exactly its shape. Long, pinnate fronds in two shades of green rise from several fibrous stems, dense right from the base, so the form is not "bald" at ground level the way many cheaper imitations are. The whole thing stands 150 cm — the height at which a palm reads as a full element of a room rather than a potted trinket. The real advantage: it lives where a real one would not This is the genuine reason to choose an artificial plant over a living one. A real Chamaedorea needs diffuse light, regular watering and humidity — in a dark corner of a hallway, a windowless meeting room, a shop display, or a flat left empty for a fortnight, it simply dies. This version needs no water, no feeding and no light, and looks the same in January as in July. The manufacturer recommends it for the home and for professional use alike — offices, hotels, restaurants, consulting rooms. Ready to stand The plant comes firmly set in a black pot and can be placed straight out of the box — nothing to repot, nothing to top up. The black pot is neutral and deliberately plain, so it drops just as easily into a decorative planter, a natural-fibre basket or a concrete vessel to suit the room. Construction The manufacturer stresses that the material of the fronds is tough and springy — the leaves bend rather than snap, which matters in transit, during vacuuming, and anywhere someone brushes past. After unpacking it is worth spreading the individual fronds and straightening them by hand: a natural, irregular arrangement is what separates a well-set artificial palm from one that looks artificial. Care It comes down to dust. Sweep the fronds with a soft brush or blow them with cool air; if they are dirtier, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one is enough. Do not use leaf-shine products meant for living plants — on synthetic material they leave a sticky film that attracts more dust.
