BELLA GU10 is a round 8.3 cm downlight in matt nickel, recessed so that its face sits flush with the ceiling plane. Rendl designed it first of all for the bathroom — hence the IP65 sealing and the metal body.IP65 — what it means in a bathroomThe first digit, 6, means fully dust-tight; the second, resistance to water jetted from any direction. In practice the fitting may be installed above a shower or a bath, in zones where an ordinary IP20 downlight is not permitted. It is worth checking before you buy: most inexpensive GU10 recessed fittings are IP20 or IP44 and are not allowed there.A GU10 socket — the lamp choice is yoursThe GU10 socket is set deep into the body, so the lamp does not protrude past the face and does not glare at an angle. No light source is included — you buy the fitting and choose the lamp yourself: colour temperature, output and beam angle. Maximum lamp power is 15 W, which with today's LEDs leaves the entire GU10 range open to you. Rendl recommends its own G11841 lamp for it.DimmingThe fitting is dimmable provided you fit a dimmable lamp — it contains no control electronics and no transformer of its own. It connects straight to 230 V, and the control comes from a wall dimmer working with that particular lamp.Installation: check two numbers firstThe mounting hole is 6.8 cm across — that is the cut-out in the board. Recess depth is 14 cm: that much clear space must exist above the ceiling, counting the cable and the frame members too. The fitting is intended for plasterboard and plaster ceilings. It weighs 176 g, so it puts no load on the suspension.Four finishesThis version is matt nickel (R13601).
