Why we use proper conductor sizing A lot of cheaper leads cut corners on cable quality. We use proper heavy duty rubber cable because it holds up better on real jobs and helps keep performance consistent, especially when the cable length increases. For temporary systems, BS 7909 also points you towards using heavy duty rubber cable (H07RN F or equivalent) for outdoor and general use, and highlights using cable where the specification and conductor size can be verified.
