FREYA 90 is a wall light in the form of a closed steel tube, 8 x 6 cm in section and 90 cm tall, painted matt olive green. The top is capped and the light leaves through a narrow slot in the bottom edge, running down the wall. How it lights and how much wall it takes The fitting stands 8 cm off the wall, is 6 cm wide and 90 cm tall: a vertical strip rather than a shade, so it does not get in the way in a passage or beside a bed. The maker describes the effect as diffuse light: the beam leaves through one aperture at the bottom and lights the stretch of wall below the fitting rather than the whole room. The body weighs 1.6 kg. That is a load plasterboard will hold with the right cavity fixings and that masonry needs nothing special for. The bulb has to be bought separately There is one GU10 socket and the maker gives 10 W as the maximum bulb wattage. No bulb is supplied, so one has to be chosen separately, and 10 W is a ceiling rather than a guide: inside a closed steel tube a stronger source has no way to shed its heat. Because the buyer supplies the light source, the buyer decides its colour temperature and its colour rendering. The maker publishes neither figure for the fitting itself and cannot: both change with whatever bulb is fitted. Mounting and supply The back of the fitting is a flat mounting plate with fixing holes, and the lead comes out near the GU10 holder. The wall light is wired permanently into a 230 V, 50 Hz supply: there is no cord and plug, so a back box has to be present where it is mounted. IP20 covers dry indoor rooms. The fitting is not intended for a shower zone or for outdoor use. The rest of the collection and the build FREYA comes in four lengths - 60, 90, 120 and 150 cm - and five colours, and the maker itself proposes grouping several units into one composition on a wall. That matters at the point of purchase: buying one unit leaves the option of adding more modules in the same finish later.
