The Steinel HF 360 COM1 is a ceiling-mounted presence detector for switching indoor lighting on and off. Article 002800 has a white plastic housing in RAL 9010 and is intended for concealed wiring. Its rounded square front has no protruding lens of the kind used on infrared detectors.Detection beyond a lightweight partitionThe 5.8 GHz high-frequency sensor detects movement independently of temperature, including through glass, wood and stud walls. That matters in toilet cubicles and changing rooms, where a partition need not interrupt the detection area. It also means movement on the other side of a partition must be considered when choosing the installation position.Detection covers 360°, with a maximum area diameter of 12 m. The reach is electronically adjustable, and two detection directions can be restricted. Steinel lists stairwells, kitchens and multi-storey car parks among the intended applications. The maximum reach is a planning limit rather than a setting to use automatically; commissioning should match the detection area to the actual room.Switching, not dimmingThe COM1 interface switches lighting on and off without regulating its brightness. The light threshold can be set from 10 to 1000 lx, and the stay-on time from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. In semi-automatic mode, lighting is switched on manually and off automatically; fully automatic mode handles both operations. Test, pulse and IQ modes are also available.Settings are made using potentiometers and DIP switches or an optional remote control. A remote is not included. The stated 2000 W capacity refers to a resistive load, not the detector's power consumption or a universal LED allowance. LED switching limits depend on the wattage of each individual lamp.Dimensions and installation requirementsThe housing measures 120 × 120 × 56 mm. The mounting height is 2.5–3.5 m, with 2.8 m specified as optimal. Surface-mounting and suspended-ceiling adapters are separate accessories. This IP20 detector requires professional connection to a 230 V supply. Its instructions specify at least 3 m clearance from a Wi-Fi router or access point.Show more
