The s.luce Edge in white is a round metal dish 45 cm across, mounted flat against a ceiling or a wall. A black L-shaped arm hangs below it, and a built-in LED module sits at its end pointing back at the dish. The light therefore hits the metal first and reaches the room only as reflected light. How much room it takes and where it goes The dish is 45 cm across and, with the arm, the fitting stands 16 cm off the mounting surface — a figure to compare with the clearance left under your ceiling or beside furniture on the wall. The arm swivels, so the angle onto the dish is set after installation. The same fitting works on a ceiling and on a wall, with no separate mounting kit to buy. Because it lights by reflection, it needs a clear surface above or behind it: the lighter that surface, the more light comes back into the room. What sort of light it gives The LED module draws 18 W and delivers 1600 lm, roughly twice an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm) — though the output is spread by the reflection and produces no sharp glare. 3000 K is warm white with a slightly yellow cast, close to the light of a traditional bulb. Colour rendering above Ra 80 is enough for a living room, a bedroom or a hallway; where shades have to match exactly, Ra 90 is the figure to look for. The light source is built in permanently — there is no socket and no bulb to replace. The manufacturer states 25,000 operating hours and 20,000 switching cycles. Dimming and connection The fitting runs on 230 V mains and is protection class I, so the connection needs an earth conductor. Its IP20 rating covers dry interiors only. Brightness is controlled with a leading-edge or trailing-edge phase dimmer. The dimmer is not included and is chosen separately to suit the installation. Which interior it suits The manufacturer intends the Edge for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways — where general light is wanted without a visible source. The form is minimalist: a smooth white disc with no ornament, the thin black arm its only drawn line. The Edge series covers round dishes of 30, 45 and 60 cm and squares of 30 × 30, 45 × 45 and 62 × 62 cm, in white and in gold leaf. Several sizes can be combined on one wall.Show more
