I6 is an aluminium glazing profile 1 m long, in silver anodised finish (no. 10-0474-10). It exists to hold and backlight a glass panel – a retail shelf, an information board or a decorative element. Load capacity of 50 kg per running metre This is the figure that separates I6 from an ordinary LED profile. A self-locking mechanism, reinforced by solid aluminium end caps, allows load-bearing boards carrying up to 50 kg per running metre of profile. A normal lighting profile is a finishing part – it holds the strip and the cover, nothing more. I6 is simultaneously a structural part: it carries the weight of the glass or board and holds it in position. That shifts the application from "lighting a shelf" to "a shelf that lights itself". The self-locking mechanism – what it means on site The panel slides into the profile and the mechanism clamps by itself, without grub screws and without adhesive. On an information board that means changing the graphic or the panel needs no dismantling of the assembly; in retail display, that the shelf layout can be changed without drilling again. The aluminium caps here are not a cosmetic detail but part of the mechanism: they stiffen the profile at the ends and hold the stated capacity. In this system they are used with a support, in versions with a hole (for the lead) and without. Edge-lighting the panel Light from the LED strip enters the edge of the panel and travels inside the material. The effect depends on what is on the glass: a smooth, clear pane carries the light onward and glows mainly at the edges, whereas frosted, sandblasted or engraved glass lights up across its whole surface, because every irregularity scatters light. That is exactly why this profile ends up under information boards and engraved signage – the lettering glows while the panel around it stays dark. Three ways to mount it The manufacturer allows surface, edge and suspended mounting, by screw, double-sided tape or wire suspension. The last lets a backlit panel hang in mid-air – as a space divider or a sign above a counter. What this profile does not do Worth stating plainly, because LED profiles get confused with one another. I6 is not sealable – it stays at IP20, dry interiors only. It is not drive-over rated, so it does not belong in a floor. It cannot be joined to run sections into one continuous line, and the driver sits outside the profile – space has to be planned for it. Light direction: perpendicular. UGR class: basic.
