CHATEAU 14004/8-GLD is an eight-arm chandelier 70 cm across and 130 cm tall, in a gold finish with clear glass elements. Eight E14 sockets rated at 40 W each. 8 × 40 W — what that actually means This is the most commonly misread figure on a chandelier. 40 W is the limit per socket, not for the whole fitting — so 320 W maximum if someone fits eight incandescent bulbs. Nobody does that in practice, but the limit matters for two reasons: It leaves enormous headroom with LED. Eight E14 LED bulbs at 5–6 W draw 40–48 W and give roughly 4000–4800 lm — enough to light a large living room or dining room on their own. This chandelier is the main light source, not a decorative supplement. Do not exceed it even with LED. The limit applies to power dissipated in the lampholder, not to the technology — if you pick powerful "retro" filament bulbs, check their wattage. Bulbs are not included. Buying eight at once, take them from a single batch — variations in the shade of white between batches are plainly visible across an eight-arm chandelier. Clear glass changes how you choose the bulb The manufacturer gives the colour as "transparent, gold" — the glass is clear, not opal. That means the bulbs will be visible and become part of how the lamp looks: Candle or globe bulbs with a visible LED filament underline the classical character and reflect in the glass. Opal bulbs reduce glare if the chandelier hangs low over a table, but kill the play of light in the glass. An empty lampholder shows — there is no shade to hide it. Size and suspension — check before buying This is a large fitting: Ø 70 cm and 130 cm tall at 8 kg (gross 9 kg). The practical consequences: 130 cm is the overall height including the suspension. With a 260 cm ceiling the bottom edge lands about 130 cm above the floor — just above table height. This fitting is intended over a table (the manufacturer assigns it that use itself) or for a room with a high ceiling, not the middle of a standard-height room. Ø 70 cm over a table suits a top from about 90 cm wide — the chandelier should be clearly narrower than the table so it stays out of seated people's space. 8 kg means checking the fixing. An ordinary ceiling hook in plasterboard is not enough — you need an anchor into the slab or into the ceiling's load-bearing structure.
