Bazar Bizar The Yang Blue Drinking Glass 520 ml, 9 × 9 × 11 cm

Name: Bazar Bizar The Yang Blue Drinking Glass 520 ml, 9 × 9 × 11 cm
Brand: BAZAR BIZAR

The Yang is a drinking glass made of recycled glass, with wavy walls instead of a straight cylinder and a noticeably thickened base. It stands 11 cm tall and measures 9 × 9 cm in the other two directions, with a rolled-out top edge. How much it holds The glass holds 520 ml, appreciably more than the contents of a 330 ml can. With water or iced lemonade one filling lasts longer and you go back to the jug less often. At 9 cm wide the glass is stocky rather than slender — compare that figure with the spacing of the prongs in your dishwasher basket and with the gap between shelves in the cupboard where it will stand. Recycled glass and what follows from it The glass is recycled, and the maker describes its colour as a gentle blue. In the photographs, the tint is most evident in the thicker base and around the edges. The same raw material accounts for the fine bubbles and irregularities in the wall. The glass is made by hand, so individual pieces differ from one another and from the photograph: the shape of the wave, the thickness of the base and the depth of colour do not repeat to the millimetre. The thickened base forms a visible contrast with the undulating walls. Looking after it The maker advises avoiding abrasive materials when washing and sudden changes of temperature — recycled glass copes badly with, for instance, boiling water poured into a vessel taken from the fridge. For cleaning, the maker recommends a soft cloth and mild soap if needed. The product specification permits dishwasher use but states that the glass is not microwave-safe. The Yang is produced in Spain. Its pair is the taller The Yin glass — the two can stand side by side on the table.Show more
