axel is an aluminium profile from the LUMINES Design+ series, made for LED strip in furniture and interior finishes — mounted on the surface or suspended on wires. This version is raw: aluminium with no anodising and no lacquer.What "raw" meansA raw profile costs less than an anodised or lacquered one because the surface-finishing stage is skipped. That has two consequences. First, you can paint it to match a cabinet or a wall, which anodised stock will not accept without preparation. Second, raw aluminium has no protective coating and dulls over time; indoors that is of no consequence, but this is not a profile for damp conditions. If you want a finished, durable surface, the same profile exists in anodised and lacquered versions.Dimensions and stripThe section is 15.8 × 13.8 mm, and the internal channel is 13.0 mm wide at the top and 11.9 mm at the base. The manufacturer allows LED strip up to 12 mm wide — which covers essentially every common 8 mm and 10 mm strip and most 12 mm COB tape. This piece is 2.02 m (2020 mm) long; the same profile also comes in 1.0 m and 3.0 m.Design detailsThe side edges have been thinned as far as the construction allows, so what shows after installation is the line of light rather than the housing. The base is thickened — it draws heat away from the strip better, and that translates directly into diode life. Countersunk holes can be drilled in the base so that screw heads sit flush with it and do not foul the strip. The suspension mounts are hidden inside the structure.What you need besides the profileThe profile is the body alone. Chosen separately are the cover (nano series: OPAL, CLEAR or BLACK — pressed in from the top), the end caps (aluminium or ABS, with or without a cable hole), the LED strip and the driver — the last of which is mounted outside the profile. For installation there are axel clips, wire suspension kits, Ø 5 mm cable holders and connectors: straight, 90° angular, 120° angular and angular transverse.Installation and sealingThe profile fixes with a screw, with double-sided tape, on a clip or on a suspension. As standard the assembly works at IP20; with the appropriate seals the axel system can be sealed to IP68.
