A bell of silk and paper TALVORA is a single pendant with a bell-shaped shade: a softly rounded dome 36 cm across, hung on black flex beneath a small, equally black canopy. The whole fitting is matt black but not uniformly smooth — the shade surface has a pronounced, irregular texture, because it is made of silk and paper over a metal supporting frame. That is an unusual material at this price, and it is what gives the lamp its character. Paper carrying silk fibres does not reflect light the way lacquered metal does; lit, the shade gains depth and its structure becomes visible. Unlit, it reads as a dark, matt volume. One E27 socket, no lamp The shade holds a single E27 socket rated at a maximum of 12 W. That limit is worth remembering: 12 W is a figure for LED lamps, not halogen or incandescent — in a closed shade made of natural materials, excess heat is a real problem, and that is where the manufacturer's cap comes from. No bulb is supplied. The fitting is dimmable, but only with a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer — it contains no control gear of its own. Suspension height Maximum suspension height is 220 cm, and the installer trims the flex to the length needed. Over a dining table one usually leaves 70–90 cm between the top and the lower edge of the shade; with a 36 cm bell that is the distance at which the light covers the full width of the table and the shade does not block the person opposite. Construction and care The fitting weighs 2.6 kg net — a lot for a shade of light materials, which comes from the metal frame and the canopy. Ceiling and fixings must be rated for it. A silk-and-paper shade tolerates neither moisture nor wet cleaning: IP20 restricts the lamp to dry interiors, and dust is best removed with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting.
