MARIEL is a round coffee table on a solid conical pedestal. The 90 cm top and the pedestal are made of MDF board finished in walnut veneer, and the grain on the top runs outward from the centre. This is not solid timber but board in a real wood veneer. How much room it takes The top is 90 cm across and the pedestal meets the floor in a 56 cm circle, so the top overhangs the base by about 17 cm all round — feet go under the edge instead of hitting a plinth. When planning the space, add the walkway to the 90 cm of top: 80 cm to pass comfortably brings the total to 170 cm. The 45 cm height is close to a usual seat height (44–47 cm), so you reach a mug from the sofa without leaning far down. Top and pedestal The top is thick at the centre and thin at the rim: 1,2 cm at the edge, while the whole upper section including its tapered underside measures 12 cm. From the side the table therefore reads as light, even though the surface is solid and rigid. The pedestal is a 33 cm cone, narrower at the top and wider at the floor. It is closed, with no legs and no clearance underneath, so there is no room for baskets or for a vacuum head below the table — you clean around it rather than under it. Construction and care Walnut veneer is a thin layer of real wood over board: it gives the look and figure of walnut, but not the resilience of a solid top. The manufacturer requires protective coasters or placemats and advises against putting wet or hot dishes straight onto the surface. The table weighs 36 kg.
