A sofa 115 cm deep, a bed 140 × 200 LAYTI-140 works in two modes and both have concrete dimensions. As a sofa it occupies 140 cm of width and 115 cm of depth — more than a normal couch, because the futon laid across the seat gives a deep, soft front. Unfolded, the depth grows to 200 cm and the sleeping surface reaches a full 140 × 200 cm, the standard size of a double bed. This is not a "guest for one night" sofa. The same structure serves two people, and the 13 cm mattress sits 20 cm above the floor — that is, close to the ground in the traditional Japanese arrangement rather than on a slatted base. Beech, not plywood The frame is solid beech. Beech is hard and dense and takes repeated folding better than pine or board — and in a piece of furniture that changes geometry every time it becomes a bed, the strength of the joints is precisely what matters. The maximum load is 200 kg. This version has the frame finished in linseed oil with wax, in the natural colour. Oil does not form a film on the surface but soaks into the wood, so the grain stays perceptible under the hand and scratches can be repaired locally without redoing the whole piece. The manufacturer also offers this model unfinished and in a caramel shade. Beige mattress with cotton filling The mattress is part of the set. The cover is polyester fabric in beige and the filling is cotton wadding, the classic futon solution. Unlike foam, cotton does not deform permanently under load, but it does need periodic airing and turning; the manufacturer notes that the cover is removable but must not be machine washed. The manufacturer stocks the fabric in ten colours — from cream and beige through graphite, navy and red — so if beige does not suit the room, it is worth checking whether Lunares carries another variant of the same frame. Seat dimensions, and what follows from them The seat is 45 cm high and 69 cm deep, and the back rises to 67 cm. Forty-five centimetres is dining-chair height, so getting up from this sofa takes no effort despite the low, futon character of the whole. The 69 cm depth, on the other hand, invites sitting with your legs tucked up — and that is this piece's proper operating mode. The sofa stands on 12 cm legs, which lets you vacuum underneath without moving it and lifts the whole piece enough that it does not read as sitting on the floor. Delivery and assembly The furniture travels in two parcels: the frame in a 143 × 124 × 18 cm carton weighing 35 kg, and the mattress in a bag and fleece cover, 150 × 50 × 50 cm, 11 kg. That is 46 kg gross against 41.5 kg for the piece itself. Measure the stairwell before ordering — a flat carton 143 cm on a side is light but rigid, and will not go round every corner. The kit is designed for self-assembly by one person. Instructions and a basic tool are included; the manufacturer additionally recommends a hammer and a screwdriver with an S4 or S5 bit.
