Name: Tascam DR-05XP Handheld Stereo Recorder, 32 Bit Float, USB-C 2 In 2 Out Audio Interface
Brand: Tascam

A handheld stereo recorder with 32-bit float recording, which removes the need to set input levels before a take, a recording that would have clipped on a conventional recorder can be brought back down in post without distortion. The built-in omnidirectional condenser capsules handle up to 125 dB SPL, so it copes with loud sources as well as speech and dictation. It also works as a 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface. 32-bit Float recording 125 dB Max SPL USB-C 2-in / 2-out interface Stereo Built-in condensers Why 32-bit float matters on locationWith 32-bit float there is effectively no wrong gain setting, the file retains headroom far beyond what a 24-bit recorder can capture, so an unexpectedly loud moment does not clip and a quiet one can be lifted cleanly. For run-and-gun capture, interviews and unattended recording, it removes the single most common cause of a ruined take.
