Broadway is a pendant fixed to the ceiling on a chrome arm braced by a diagonal strut. The shade — a drum of white fabric with a visible weave, 32 cm across — hangs from the end of the arm on a black cable looped into a decorative knot. Where to fix it and how far the arm reaches The arm is 108 cm long and turns through 350°, so the ceiling fixing does not have to fall above the spot you want lit — the shade swings sideways by that whole length and can be aimed at wherever the table actually stands. That is the answer for a ceiling whose outlet is in the wrong place. The overall height of the fitting is 120 cm. The drop is best set so the bottom edge of the shade sits 70–80 cm above the table top. The luminaire weighs 5.2 kg, so the fixing has to reach the ceiling's load-bearing structure; the parcel weighs 8.2 kg. What lamp it needs There is one E27 lampholder, and the manufacturer gives a maximum lamp rating of 15 W, naming an LED source. No lamp is supplied — Rendl recommends its own article G13029 for this fitting — so the colour and brightness of the light are your choice. The light can be dimmed, but that takes a lamp described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit; the fitting itself holds no control gear. It wires permanently into a 230 V supply. The shade and the finish The shade fabric has a fine, regular weave visible from close up and a matt surface, so light passing through the sides is diffused while the main beam leaves through the open bottom of the drum. At 32 cm the shade is noticeably smaller than a typical over-table fitting — it throws a narrower circle and lights a chosen spot rather than a whole table top. The arm, the strut and the round ceiling rose are polished chrome, and the supply cable is black and deliberately left on show. White fabric against chrome and a black cable is the whole of this fitting's decoration; there is no ornament on it.Näytä lisää
