SONO is a recessed LUMINES aluminium profile designed to be plastered into the wall or ceiling — once the surface is finished, all that remains visible is the line of light, with no frame and no exposed profile edge. This version is a 1 m length in the raw finish: uncoated aluminium. A trimless result, thanks to the flange The profile has a triangular cross-section and side flanges spanning 65 mm in total, which are bedded into the skim coat together with the mesh. Once filled and painted, the profile disappears and only the 26.3 mm aperture is left. This is the approach used where the architecture has to stay clean: in plasterboard construction, in ceiling recesses, and along corridor and stairwell walls. Angled light output The triangular chamber holds the LED strip at a slant, so the light does not leave the surface perpendicularly but sweeps the adjacent plane. That makes SONO suited to washing walls and bringing out the texture of plaster or stone rather than to general illumination. Because the cover sits back from the face of the wall, glare is limited and the diode itself stays out of sight at normal viewing angles. What you still need to buy The profile is sold as a system component and includes neither the strip, nor the driver, nor a cover. The chamber is designed for one LED strip. The driver mounts outside the profile, so space for it has to be planned — in an access box or an adjacent service void. Matching BASIC covers in PMMA or polycarbonate are available in clear, frosted, milky, milky frosted and black, and push into the top of the profile; end caps with a cable hole come in plastic and aluminium. The raw finish and available lengths The raw version is aluminium with no lacquer — the cheapest option, and the sensible one for a plaster-in installation, where the profile ends up under a layer of filler and paint anyway. If the profile is meant to stay visible, the SONO system also offers white and black lacquered and silver anodised versions. Catalogue lengths are 1000, 2020 and 3000 mm; longer runs up to 6 m are made to order. This profile is not designed to be joined end to end and is not rated to be walked or driven over.
