MOYS is a clamp lamp — it is not stood on the desk, it is clipped to its edge. The scissor-action spring clamp grips anything with a rim: a desktop, a shelf, the back of a chair, a bed frame, a drawing board. The jaws are rubber-sleeved, so they will not scratch the surface.Why a clamp instead of a baseThe lamp stands 12.7 cm high and reaches out 32.5 cm, yet takes up not one centimetre of working surface — the whole of it stays off the desktop. On a small desk, on a bedside table already crowded with books, or anywhere a standing lamp simply would not fit, that is a real difference. At 0.45 kg it can be moved to a new spot one-handed.Aiming the lightThe joint between shade and arm rotates and tilts through a full 360°, and the clamp itself adds a third degree of freedom. The dome shade, 14 cm across and 11 cm deep, sends the light downward and holds it in a narrow cone — this is a lamp for lighting one particular place: the page, the keyboard, the book, not the whole room.Power and controlThe lamp is ready to use straight out of the box: 170 cm of black fabric-braided cable ending in a plug, with the on/off switch sitting on the cable within reach. Nothing has to be wired in and no electrician is needed. Built to protection class II, it requires no earth connection.The bulbThe socket is E27 and takes lamps up to 40 W — no bulb is supplied, so the colour and brightness are yours to choose. The manufacturer recommends a decorative G125 LED filament lamp of 4.9 W at 2200 K: with the shade open underneath, the filament itself is visible, and warm amber light suits this shape better than a strong opal bulb would.
