BARRIS is a small Lucide table lamp 30 cm tall, made entirely of steel in taupe — a warm grey-beige between grey and brown. It takes one E27 source up to 25 W. A shade open at top and bottom The oval shade measures 12 × 6 × 23 cm and is simply a folded sheet of steel — opaque at the sides, open above and below. Lucide describes the light direction as "Around (Diffuse)", but in practice that means output in two directions: down onto the surface and up onto the wall. Placed against a wall, BARRIS gives the characteristic indirect, reflected light the manufacturer designed it for. A 25 W ceiling, not 40 W This matters when choosing a bulb: Lucide states a maximum of 1 × 25 W for this fitting, not the 40 W common on E27 lamps. The limit comes from the small steel shade, closed at the sides, where heat has nowhere to go. With a modern LED that is no brightness constraint at all — a 6–8 W source gives around 800 lumens, more than a bedside table or a chest of drawers needs. No bulb is included; the manufacturer recommends its own 49099/05/30. A switch on the cord — the small thing that decides convenience The lamp has a switch spliced into the cable rather than on the body. On a bedside lamp that is a practical difference: the switch can sit within reach on the bed instead of having to grope for the base in the dark. The cable is 180 cm with a black fabric braid, ending in a Type C plug. The black of cable and switch is a deliberate contrast to the taupe — Lucide lists black as the accent colour. Steel, satin and a powder coat Body and shade are steel, powder coated and finished in satin — matt, but with a slight sheen. A powder coat is harder than ordinary paint, which matters on a table lamp that gets moved around a desk. The whole lamp weighs 0.53 kg, so it is light; the height is fixed, with no adjustment. The IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors, and class II means double insulation — no earth conductor needed. The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years.
