In practice that means modern G9 LED sources of around 2–4 W — older 25 W halogens give a similar amount of light at ten times the power draw and run hot, which matters inside an enclosed glass shade. Because the shade is milky glass, the shape and appearance of the lamp make no visual difference — only colour temperature and output count. The fitting is dimmable, but only with a lamp rated for dimming; the fitting itself contains no control gear.
