Brene FBRS554 is a low side table measuring 54.5 × 53.5 cm and standing 41.5 cm high, in a matte smooth finish in the verde shade (Pantone 4193C). The whole body — legs, frame and slatted top — is formed as a single plastic moulding, with no screws, fittings or joints that could work loose or corrode. The slatted top is not just a look A top made of parallel slats does two practical jobs. First, rainwater drains between the slats instead of pooling — the table can stay out on a terrace rather than being carried in after every storm. Second, the air beneath the surface means it dries faster and does not trap damp under whatever is standing on it. It is the same reason park benches are built from slats rather than a solid board. Light, but load-bearing The manufacturer rates it at a maximum load of 50 kg — ample for a tray, a planter or a pair of feet, and the table is often used as an extra stool. At the same time the construction is light enough that one hand is enough to move it, which matters when sweeping a terrace or putting furniture away for winter. The legs occupy a 50 × 47 cm rectangle on the floor, less than the outline of the top, so the table tucks closer to an armchair than its width suggests. Plastic, not wood or rattan FERNE is a brand of Prosperplast, a Polish maker specialising in plastics processing. The furniture is made from 100 % recyclable plastic and produced in Poland. In practice that means no oiling, no silvering the way teak does, no unravelling the way rattan does — water and a mild detergent are enough, and frost and damp do it no harm. Indoors and out Its resistance to moisture suits it to a garden, a terrace or a balcony, but its shape is not so "garden" that it looks out of place in a living room — the maker also aims the collection at cafés, hotels and offices. A top at 41.5 cm matches the seat height of a typical garden armchair, so the table sits beside one naturally, with no reaching up.
