The STEINEL IS 2180 ECO 064907 is an outdoor infrared motion sensor with an adjustable twilight threshold. Its anthracite plastic housing, specified as RAL 7016, has a vertical outline and a rounded sensing lens below the front cover. It controls connected lighting rather than producing light itself.Plan the detection area around the approachThe detection angle is 180°. Turning the removable lens selects a basic maximum reach of either 5 or 12 m for movement across the sensor's field. Direction matters when choosing its position: walking directly towards the unit does not provide the same detection distance as crossing its field from the side. Cover shrouds can exclude individual sections of that field.STEINEL lists front doors, building facades, terraces, balconies, courtyards and driveways as intended locations. The passive infrared system responds to heat radiation from moving bodies. A wall or pane of glass between the sensor and the area being monitored prevents this type of detection. The instructions recommend mounting at approximately 2 m to obtain the stated reach.Choose the light level and switching timeThe twilight threshold adjusts from 2 to 2000 lx, while the lighting time can be set between 10 seconds and 15 minutes. These settings use potentiometers, not a remote control. They let you choose the ambient brightness at which the connected lights respond separately from how long they remain switched on. Check the load type before connecting lights: the 2000 W rating is for a resistive load, not a universal LED limit. Permitted LED loads are 100, 175 or 350 W depending on the power of the individual lamps.Wall mounting and package contentsThe housing measures 12 cm high, 7.8 cm wide and 5.5 cm deep, with an IP54 rating. Its undecorated form suits modern facades. Connection to the 230 V / 50 Hz supply requires professional installation. The package contains one sensor; the bracket for mounting on an internal or external corner is sold separately.
