End cap for the LUMINES atom LED profile in black, made of ABS, in the scored-hole version – hence the "2-in-1" name. Order code 12-1542-01. One cap, two possibilities The cable opening in this cap is marked at the factory but not cut out. The part arrives solid, and if a cable has to leave that end of the profile you break out the scored section. Hence "2-in-1": the same part serves the fed end and the closed end. The gain is organisational rather than aesthetic: at ordering time you do not have to know which end of the profile the supply will run to. You buy one type of cap for the whole installation and decide on site. Fitting into a finished interior, where the cable route often changes at the last minute, that is a real saving. What the cap does in a profile A length of profile has raw cut ends – the strip channel, the edge of the cover and the wiring are all visible. The cap closes that section: it hides the inside, keeps dust off the strip and its soldered joints, and at the same time supports the end of the cover, which otherwise tends to lift away from the profile over time. It is a small part, easily lost during installation – which is why it is also bought separately as a spare. Matched to the atom profile The cap is dedicated to the LUMINES atom profile. Profile sections differ by millimetres, and that decides whether the part holds by push fit – a cap from another range either will not enter or will fall out. Check both range and colour when ordering, because on a surface installation the cap's edge sits visibly beside the profile's. In the same range the manufacturer offers ABS caps with a scored hole in silver (12-1545-01), grey (12-1544-01), white (12-1541-01) and in RAL colours, plus aluminium versions – with a hole (12-1542-10 / -20) and without (12-1542-11 / -21). Black ABS – why it works A black cap on a black profile disappears; on a silver profile it forms a distinct termination that emphasises the length of the line. Both strategies are used deliberately, so choose the colour after looking at the whole thing rather than automatically "to match the profile". ABS itself is the practical choice here: springy enough for the cap to hold without adhesive and to come off when the strip needs servicing, and stiff enough not to distort under the profile's heat. Breaking out the scored section is clean in it – the material parts along the groove.
