RIO 3 is not one luminaire but a composition of three: from a single canopy descend three rings of 55, 78 and 110 cm diameter, hung at different heights on transparent cables. The numbers in the name are exactly those three diameters. The whole arrangement spans 150 cm, so it reads as a spatial object rather than a flat circle — from every point in the room the rings fall into a different pattern. Colour Ochre red is a warm, muted shade between terracotta and rust — saturated enough to be a decision rather than a background. The canopy is finished in the same colour and the cables are clear, so the rings appear to hang unsupported. Thoro also offers the same model in white, black, beige, gold, chrome and olive green. Light The built-in LED modules draw 100 W in total and deliver 13,243 lm — this is not mood lighting but full general illumination, enough for a large living room or an open-plan living area. The colour is a warm 3000 K and colour rendering is CRI 93, well above the usual 80 threshold: the colours of fabric, wood and leather stay true. The light is directed downwards. Energy class F. At over 13,000 lm, dimming is worth deciding at the order stage rather than after installation. Mounting and build The construction is aluminium. The canopy is 24 cm across and 2 cm deep. The fitting weighs 16.75 kg — a mass that needs anchoring into the structural ceiling, not into plasterboard. Supply is ~230 V, 50 Hz. IP20 restricts it to dry interiors, and protection class I requires a protective earth conductor. The light source is integrated and supplied with the luminaire.
